Thanks (again)

With each new issue comes a progression of time which often goes unnoticed. The deadlines of one month’s MRN seemingly turn into deadlines for the next issue at the blink of an eye. These quickly add together and before we can catch our breath, another year’s worth of Model Railroad News has hit the presses.

It is hard to grasp at times that MRN is now entering into its sixth year of production. That first issue of April/May, 1995 seems at the same time both ancient history, and as fresh as having occurred only a few months ago. During the last five years, MRN has upheld its tradition of providing the most complete, most accurate, and most up-to-date model railroading new product information in the industry. In this issue, we have provided information on products from forty different manufacturers, many of which have announced several new products throughout the publication.

One of the significant additions to MRN is product reviews. In this issue alone, we evaluate: USA Trains’ F A A and B diesel locomotives for Large Scale; both HO and N scale versions of Kato’s SD40-2 Snoot Nose diesels; Atlas O’s ACF 60 foot Auto Parts Boxcar; Aztec’s new track cleaning car for O scale; Signature Press’ Snowbound Streamliner; Mile Stone Gravel Co. in N scale from Miller Engineering; and two more additions to our Simple Structure series — Blair Line’s Loading and Truck Ramps, as well as new paper structures from KittyHawk.

Since that first issue, MRN has added monthly and bimonthly columns. This issue features our monthly column dedicated to the Teen Association of Model Railroaders (TAMR), as well as our bimonthly 1/87 Vehicle & Equipment Club column.

Our latest addition, while not part of the publication itself, seems these days to be a natural extension — MRN’s own web site. We can be found at: www.modelrailroadnews.com. The information on the site is usually updated the week we go to press, providing subscribers a first hand look at what’s coming to them in the mail. Others can check out the site to see what MRN is all about.

Of course this growth would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of too many individuals to list. Most of them are in our Who’s-who at the bottom of this page. This list includes our Executive Editor Michael W. Lindsay, our office staff, Warren Tryk Design, our contributing writers, our columnists, as well as our many advertisers. But the one group that needs to be recognized most of all — and the one that all this effort is for — is our readers. Without you folks — well, you know!

So thanks everyone, again. You have all helped Model Railroad News become what it is today, and will become in the future.
