Arizona, Phoenix — “In The Heat” Railroad Swap Meet will be held on July 25th, at the North Phoenix Baptist Church Fellowship Center, 5757 N. Central Avenue. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission: $5.00. Attractions will include everything trains: all gauges, books, tapes, train memorabilia, and accessories. California, Riverside — The Roundhouse Gang Model RR Club will be holding a Swap Meet on July 25th, at the Janet Groeske Senior Center, 5257 Sierra Street (1 block north of Sears.) California, San Diego (Balboa Park) — The San Diego Model Railroad Museum will be hosting Circus Family Day on August 16th. Families can enjoy model circus trains, making an over the top circus necklace, face painting, and all sorts of carnival games. Museum hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday; and from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Maryland, Baltimore — On Saturdays beginning July 11th, the Mile One Express train ride at the B&O Railroad Museum, 901 W. Pratt Street, will depart at 11:30 a.m. and will stop at the newly constructed Whistle Stop Gateway at Mount Clare Museum House where up to 30 passengers will be able to tour the historic Georgian home of Charles Carroll, Barrister. Ohio, Van Wert — The Van Wert County Historical Society will be presenting Railroad Heritage Weekend on July 18-19, at 602 N. Washington Street. Hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Oregon, Medford — The Medford Railroad Park will be open to the public on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, April through October. The Railroad Park is located adjacent to Fire Station No. 4 at the intersection of Table Rock Road and Berrydale Avenue. Park will be open on July 4th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on July 5th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Normal ours are from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Railroad Park is a unique collaboration between Medford’s Parks and Recreation Dept., and five volunteer-based railroad-related clubs. Attractions include a visitors center/museum housed within a restored 1910 caboose, a restored 1942 caboose, a restored 1928 flanger, a handcar ride, a motorcar ride, operating layouts, and the Morse Telegraph Club’s antique telegraph system. Pennsylvania, Strasburg — The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 Gap Road, will be offering Barons & Builders, a summer day camp for children, July 13 –17th for children ages 9 and 10, and July 27-31 for children 11 and 12. Camp will be in session from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. Camp activities will include touring equipment in the Museum, riding an Amtrak train, building LEGO train cars to take home, and creating plans for railroads. Admission: $125.00, for Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania Members; $175.00 for non-members. Participation will be limited to 15 campers per session.
