Reviewer Jeff Saxton finds USA Trains’ latest offering a welcome change from all the other existing large scale cabooses we have had to choose from to date. Although the Bay Window Caboose follows no one prototype exactly, it is reminiscent of many cars used by Class 1 railroads around the country.

Mike Broadway takes a look at Accurail’s new bi-level and tri-level open auto rack kits for HO scale. Based on the Paragon ParaPak auto rack design built in the 1960s, these kits feel right at home on any 1960s to early 1980s era layout.

Stuart Thayer takes a look at several ready-to-run, double-plug and quad-plug Pullman Standard, 86’ Hi-Cube boxcars. HO Scale modelers that model railroads of the 1960s and 1970s with ties to the auto industry should check out his findings.

Larry Smith reviews GHQ’s HO scale Farm Tractor that closely resembles the International Harvester Farmall Model 300 of 1953, which also could pass as an IH Farmall Model C from 1940.

Walthers aircraft Walthers’ DC-3/C-47 Aircraft Kit

Walthers’ new aircraft kit provided Michael J. Pratt the opportunity to combine his first modeling love, aircraft, with his new found interest in model railroading. Walthers HO model can be built as a civilian DC-3, or a military C-47 version.

For almost twenty years, Howard Clifford’s book Rails North has served as a tantalizing introduction to the railroads of the far north. Jeff Saxton reviews Oso Publishing's recently released revised second edition of this older work now titled, Alaska / Yukon Railroads: An Illustrated History.

Jeff Saxton takes a look at TLC Publishing’s latest release, Seaboard Air Line Railway, The Route of Courteous Service. The author, William E. Griffin, Jr., provides chronological coverage of the SAL. The extent of the history offered is surprising for a book this size.
