Cars N Who?

Dear Sir:

In your Volume 6, Issue 3 March, 2000 you published a review entitled, Northwest customizing of Walton & Sons Lumber Company. I am interested in some N scale items. Can you supply me with the address and phone number for Cars N Scale? I would appreciate it.

It appears that what once was Cars N Scale became Lineside Models under a company called Vac-U-Cast Plastics. Their entire catalog of 1929 through 1996 vehicles is visible on their website under the Lineside Vehicles heading. The 1947 Ford Flatbed Truck is their model number 2076 and is priced at $4.00. It is available direct with a shipping charge. Click on “Catalog”, scroll to bottom of the page, click on “Lineside Models” Catalog. Their complete address is: Vac-U-Cast Plastics Inc., 2319 West Cucharras St., Colorado Springs, CO 80904; phone/fax (719) 448-0780; e-mail: vacucastplastics@aol.com; www.vacucast.access-now.net

DCC History

Dear Mr. Rittman,

Where and when did DCC originate? I seem to recall in my teens it came from Germany in the late 1970s. Only now is it gaining popularity. I bought my very first DCC Locomotive several days ago. What can you tell us about its history, and where can it lead us in the future. I love your feature Train-Tech, and I’ve been a model train buff since childhood.

Fisher Found?

In the Letters section of the July, 2000 edition you published a letter from D. Heffernan of Fresno, CA regarding a Railroad Artist named Fisher. Here is some information that I think may be helpful to him:

No, I don’t believe that he is any relation. I wish he was as he does beautiful work.

MRN is always glad to help those that serve our country. I’m sure many are model railroaders — Ed.

MRN:

I’m looking for info about the Illinois Central — East Dubuque area around 1867 — type of trains, pics if possible, maps, etc. Also info on the Carnegie-built turning bridge over the Mississippi.

Burton Everist

If anyone can help Mr. Everist, we will pass along the information. — Ed.
